» About the company

Caiba Indústria e Comércio S/A, founded in the 1940’s, and later acquired and expanded by Mr. José Jayme Bittencourt Belicha, started with the exportation of Rose Wood Essencial oil.  The company also worked in the buying, preparation, and sale of jute in the Brazilian domestic market, for a period of 30 years, when this product had a significant place in the economy of the state of Pará.
In 1984, Caiba began exporting Brazil Nuts, shelled and in shell, to the United States, Canada, Israel, Germany, France, the Netherlands, Italy, South Africa, Arabic-speaking countries, China, Hong Kong, Australia, New Zealand, Tunisia, while continuing to work in the Brazilian market, with wholesalers and factories, including multinational corporations in the cosmetics and perfume market.

The company’s processing plant is the heart of our business. Here, primary materials are received, and extraction and preparation are conducted, all within the quality standards set by MAPA (the Brazilian Agriculture, Livestock, and Warehousing Ministry).  The company generates approximately 400 jobs, directly and indirectly, during the harvest season, comprising about 1% of the local population, according to data from the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE, Results from the Demographic Census Sample, 2000).  Currently, Caiba works with a wide array of natural Amazonian products, always seeking the highest degree of value and quality and always promoting the sustainability of the Amazon rainforest.
